You can get live data during an exercise session with the ORB Sport mobile app. If your mouthguard is connected and in communication range with your phone, the app will display live heart rate data, live heart rate zones, active calories burned, and session duration.

ORB Sport mouthguard can be used as a standard BLE (Bluetooth® low energy) heart rate monitor and can pair with third-party apps or devices that accept a BLE heart rate service. Currently, it cannot share or export data to other health apps.

No, you don't. ORB Sport mouthguard stores data on the device, so you can leave your phone behind and focus on training. After your session, sync up to gain all your data insights. If your mouthguard is connected and in communication range with your phone, you can stream heart rate and active calories in real time.

No, you do not need the app for the mouthguard to work. However, you do need the app to access your data and to experience ORB Sport smart mouthguard at its full potential. The app is required to see all the data that ORB Sport mouthguard tracks.

Our mouthguards have been designed to protect teeth first and foremost. We use the same high-quality EVA plastic used in regular mouthguards to offer maximum comfort and protection.

ORB Sport mouthguard has been extensively tested for the required aspects of safety by our internal engineering team and Intertek, a world-renowned testing company. It has passed electronic testing protocols for the U.S. market and has received the legally required FCC certifications. All required certification information can be found on the product label.

ORB Sport mouthguard is not a medical diagnostic or detection tool and should not be used for identifying concussions or other traumatic head injuries. Its primary use is as a fitness tracker, with head impact data as a useful wellness indicator.

In 2010, future CEO Robert Paterson suffered a severe head injury during a rugby match. It was misdiagnosed, leaving him bedridden for weeks. 

Thankfully Rob recovered, but the incident lingered in his mind. While at one of the world’s foremost engineering and sports science research institutions — Loughborough University in the U.K. — he became very intrigued by data.
